Gastronomy
The Portuguese kitchen doesn’t have the fame as the Greek, Italian or Spanish
Mediterranean kitchen. However the lover of good food and drink does not stay in the cold! Madeira and Porto need no further argument, also the Vinho Verde is well-known to us.
The Portuguese espresso is locally called ‘uma bica’ and a ‘latte’ is ‘um galão’
Also pastel de nata, bacalão and sardines are well known. But in restaurants and eateries they also serve delicious cataplanes, percebes or other fish preperations besides Bollo de bolache and doce de amendoa.
Carrapateira has a number of restaurants in and around the village.
In Aljezur, Vila do Bispo/Sagres and Lagos you can find excellent eateries where local specialities are on the menu. In addition in the villages there are almost daily markets of fresh food, fish, vegetables and fruit where local goods are offered for sale.
Finally you find department stores in Aljezur and Vila do Bispo that also have a multitude of products to sell.
