The beaches and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean are a dream location for surfers and lovers of water sports; there is really something for everyone. In the vicinity of Carrapateira you find the surf schools from Amado and Arrifana for beginners. The beaches also challenge the more experienced sporters to defy the high waves of the ocean. Beside surfing a lot of other water sports are popular: snorkeling, kayaking (on the sea and on the rivers), paddle boarding, windsurfing…

Many beaches also have rescuers  and nice beach bars making them more popular.
